Instructions after Cataract Surgery

Your cataract surgery was performed yesterday. Please watch this video carefully and follow the instructions as advised. The eye may be watery for 24 hours and vision a little blurred initially. However, if you have severe pain in the eye, contact the emergency number.

REMEMBER: When taking more than one kind of eye drops at the same time, wait for 5 minutes before using the second drop.

How to Insert Eye Drops

Tilt your head back.
Pull your lower lid away from the eye to form a “pocket” by pulling the lower lid down with your index finger or pinching the lid outward with your thumb and index finger.
Let the drop fall into the pocket without touching the bottle to your eye or eyelid (to prevent contamination of the bottle).
Close your eyes (do not blink) and apply pressure to the point where the lids meet the nose. Hold for two to three minutes. Wipe unabsorbed drops and tears from the closed lids with a tissue.
